Swedish professional soccer player Kosovare Asllani began playing at a young age. Despite being born to parents with no sports background, Kosovare learned to play from her older brothers.
Raising to the top wasn’t easy for her as the town where she grew up was conservative, and it was not normal for women to engage in sports activities.

The Swedish attacking midfielder Kosovare Asllani was born to her parents, on July 29, 1989, in Kristianstad, Sweden.
Her parents were of Kosovan Albanian descent and had migrated to Sweden before Kosovare was born.
Before her, her parents had given birth to her older siblings, including her brother, Arment Asllani.
Asllani’s dad and mom, Myrvete, had migrated to Sweden in search of better job opportunities and a promising future for their children.
After staying in Kristianstad briefly, the family moved north and relocated to Vimmerby.
Kosovare considers that it was at Vimmerby that she discovered her athletic interests. As a kid, she mostly liked playing soccer and ice hockey.
Her mom, Myrvete, was sure that her daughter would become an athlete before she was in her teens.
So, she allowed her little daughter when she accompanied her older brothers while they went out to play the game.
However, Kosovare remembers her brothers did not like when she played soccer, saying it was a boy’s game.
Of course, it hurt her, but her mom always stayed alongside her, watching her game and supporting her throughout her journey.
Kosovare often tells her mom, Myrvete, has an influential role in shaping her career, but she has not revealed much about her dad.
